Places you can't miss in New York in a short visit.

I never said never, but it was never a dream to fulfill, I used to go to Madrid on every vacation I had, even after knowing it well.

One Thursday in September, angry at having a lot of work, I decided to buy a ticket that by the way cost me a $300 round trip, it was life... telling me that I should visit the place where my friends go repeatedly.

Hotel? I found a cheap Airbnb and a trusted Couchsurfing, 4 days, no plans... the first piece of advice: buy the metro card! If I buy it? No, I was sure I was going to walk all over the island. Uber almost cost me $70 to go to the first Airbnb.

Places I recommend for a short visit are:

1 - Williamsburg (you can walk around, there's shopping nearby, and take a $3 ferry to the Brooklyn Bridge, the view is beautiful and it's an awesome ride)

2 - Buy the ticket to visit the statue of liberty, for $25.

Where to buy

3- Soho: Sveta is highly recommended for brunch, and then to a bar: Gitano.

4- Visit the beach, and go to New Jersey to spend the day, even in September when there is not much sun, the days are nice to walk, have a drink or chocolate and enjoy the sea view. To do this, you need to take a subway and a bus. (That is why it is very important that you have a metro card)

5- Famous buildings: Empire state, The edge, Chrysler, 432 Park Avenue.

6- Visit china town, little Italy on the same day. I have a certain obsession with Asian places, they sell the best ice creams and the best Ramen. (My friend Alec took me to a place called: the original Chinatown ice cream factory).

7- Madison Square, You must buy the tickets weeks before!

8- Going back to Chinatown (sorry, it wasn't enough once, I went with my friend Jacob, it was so great to have this experience with him, try new foods and make bad orders), in the restaurants they didn't speak English and they didn't accept cards. Make sure you have some dollars.

9- Cinema, free old movies in the outdoor parks (they give you popcorn during the movie, for free).

10- Before returning to the airport, make sure you have the metro card so you don't pay uber again.

It was a beautiful trip, I met new friends, I went out to party, I danced, I thought again about what my life would be like if everything hadn't changed so much in recent years, would I know New York? Finally, and what I feared... I need to go back! On Saturdays I spend time looking at cheap flights with Copa Airlines, of course... my friends were right. There is a before and after New York.
